While traveling the globe, our founders, Rachel Bentley and Jia Wertz, noticed that master artisans—armed with extraordinary, generational craft traditions—were often confined to local markets, struggling to receive the recognition and fair compensation they deserved.
That realization became The Citizenry. The name reflects our core ethos: The Citizens of a shared world. We believe that we are all interconnected across borders. By bypassing traditional, convoluted retail supply chains, we partner directly with artisan communities around the globe to bring world-class craftsmanship straight to modern homes that value both design and conscience.

Furthermore, we provide 50% upfront capital to help fund raw materials and support sustainable working environments.
